This is a list of the most frequently asked questions regarding Spamavert.
Some e-mails may contain activation links and other material. Sometimes people inadvertently give personal information to companies, and this information may be sent with newsletters sent to the tossmail.com-address that user provided.
Another reason is that a lot of people end up choosing the same address when registering for a service. For example, when registering at Amazon, the first address people think of will usually be amazon@spamavert.com. If a lot of people do this, throughout the year the list of e-mails sent to that e-mail address will probably pretty big, and that's the main reason we only display e-mail fresher than a week.
A third issue is storage space. We receive a lot of e-mail everyday, and since this is a free service, we cannot afford to store everything for that long.
Have you tried using the suggestions on the front page? It will not guarantee that the address is unique, but in most cases it will since it picks one of 10 000 000 000 (that's 10 billion) addresses randomly every time it runs. We don't have anywhere near 10 billion people using the service (yet), so that should be enough.
Another good way to make sure the address you use is unique, is to prefix your random address with your name, or a somewhat unique id of your choosing. So, when registering for a service, you could use yourname_service@spamavert.com.
